The Internet of things is becoming a familiar topic but what does it really mean for the healthcare sector?
As our healthcare systems struggle to cope with the increasing patient demands and longer lifespans now more than ever connected digital health systems are essential in realising a modern more efficient healthcare provision.
With this issue in mind Global companies Microchip and Arrowhave teamed up with RTC North to deliver a one-off event which will provide invaluable insights from some leading experts into the value and impact the Internet of Things (IOT) on the healthcare sector.
The market for digital health was worth £23bn in 2014 and is expected to almost double to £43bn in 2018, digital health systems represent the largest market both globally and in the UK, where they contribute 66% of digital health sales.
This increasing digitization and focus on data in digital transformation and connected healthcare initiatives will not be overlooked by 'the bad guys' of course. Given the importance of data for healthcare, it is expected that attacks will go up with the International Data Corporation (IDC) predicting that by 2018 ransomware attacks will have doubled. This coupled with the pending changes of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force in May 2018, will have a significant impact on all digital healthcare systems and devices, meaning organisations will need to up their security game or face potential penalties.
Experts from Microchip and Arrow will focus on the use of Internet of Things to:
